PENSION BOARD

The Pension Board meets at 4:30 p.m. Monday, January 26 in Conference Room 391 on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The board will consider pension payroll and financial reports for the quarter ending December 31, 2014. The board will also review a memo regarding the death of a pensioner in the city’s 1079 pension program.

PUBLIC UTILITIES BOARD

The Public Utilities Board is holding a special meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, January 26 and a regular meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, January 26 in Conference Room A/B at the Alameda Municipal Power Service Center, 2000 Grand Street.

On the agenda: During the special meeting, which is closed to the public, the board will conduct a performance evaluation for General Manager Glenn Steiger. During the regular meeting, the board will consider recommending the City Council approve a redesigned underground utility district policy. The board will also consider adopting a load forecast for 2016, a ratemaking policy for 2016 through 2020 and an amended and restated policy for short-term renewable energy sales and the use of the proceeds. The board will also receive information on a five-year strategic plan for Alameda Municipal Power, covering the years 2015 through 2020.

COMMISSION ON DISABILITY ISSUES

The Commission on Disability Issues meets at 6:30 p.m. Monday, January 26 in Conference Room 360 on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The commission will conduct an election of board officers and receive a report regarding accessible benches on Park Street. The board will also discuss goals and objectives for 2015 and receive an update regarding a universal design ordinance.

PLANNING BOARD

The Planning Board meets at 7 p.m. Monday, January 26 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The board will hold a public workshop on the initial development concept for Site A, a 68-acre, waterfront parcel at Alameda Point where homes, commercial space, parks and a ferry terminal are planned.

BOARD OF EDUCATION

The Board of Education meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 27 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The board will consider approving a schedule for the first phase of school construction projects to be funded with Measure I bond money, and also, an audit report for the district’s 2013-14 financial reports. The board will also receive presentations on options for housing The Academy of Alameda Middle School and the Academy’s new elementary school, and on Governor Jerry Brown’s proposed 2015-16 state budget. The board will also discuss procedures for appointing a candidate to Mayor Trish Spencer's unexpired school board term.

TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION

The Transportation Commission meets at 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 28 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The commission will discuss and provide comments on transportation projects in the city’s proposed capital improvement program; a Clement Avenue complete street concept proposal that seeks to improve access for trucks, cyclists, pedestrians and transit; and a quarterly report on activities related to transportation policies and plans.

ALAMEDA POINT OPEN HOUSE

An Alameda Point open house that members of the City Council and Planning Board will attend is scheduled for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 29 at Callahan Piano, 1800 Ferry Point, Alameda Point.

On the agenda: The council and the board have agendized meetings so that members of each body can attend the open house, where members of Alameda Point Partners, the development group selected to develop Site A at Alameda Point, will share ideas and drawings for the 68-acre waterfront site.

SOCIAL SERVICE HUMAN RELATIONS BOARD

The Social Service Human Relations Board meets at 7 p.m. Thursday, January in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The board will receive a presentation regarding a homeless count that was conducted in the city on September 24. The board will also develop a process to evaluate, score and make recommendations for spending fiscal year 2015-16 non-housing Community Development Block Grant funds.

HIGH SCHOOL FACILITIES COMMUNITY MEETING

The first of three community meetings to discuss the future of high schools in Alameda is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, January 29 at Will C. Wood Middle School, 420 Grand Street.

On the agenda: Participants are to receive an introduction to the issue and will be allowed to discuss it and ask questions.
