The Agenda: Back to school report, Harbor Bay hotel

PLANNING BOARD

The Planning Board meets at 7 p.m. Monday, August 25 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The board will consider signing off on the design of a four-floor, 72-room extended stay-style hotel at 1700 Harbor Bay Parkway and will consider recommending that the City Council permit the subdivision of a 3.56-acre parcel at that location so that it can be built on a separate, 0.93-acre piece. The board will also consider changes to the city’s zoning rules to permit coin-operated arcades and pinball machines and ground floor offices on a block of Santa Clara Avenue between Park Street and Broadway and also, to permit groups of employees to share housing where now only individuals and families are permitted. The board will also consider approving the design of a new, 2,927-square-foot, two-story home at 2905 Madison Street. The board will also conduct elections for officer positions.

ZONING ADMINISTRATOR

The Zoning Administrator will conduct a hearing at 3 p.m. Tuesday, August 26 in Room 360 on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The administrator will consider a request from Rock Wall Wine Company to amend an existing use permit at 2301 Monarch Street.

BOARD OF EDUCATION

The Board of Education meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 26 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The board will consider approving staff recommendations that innovative programs at Franklin and Henry Haight elementary schools be permitted to proceed to a formal planning phase. The board will also receive a report on hiring, enrollment and other back to school information and on an initial study conducted on the potential impacts of a proposed project to light the Will C. Wood Middle School field.
