The Agenda: Budgets, parklets, golf renovations and more

Public Utilities Board

The Public Utilities Board meets at 6 p.m. Monday, June 24 in Conference Room A/B of the Alameda Municipal Power Service Center, 2000 Grand Street.

On the agenda: The board is being asked to approve a budget for 2013-2014, and separately, the transfer of $2.8 million into the city’s general fund.

Planning Board

The Planning Board meets at 7 p.m. Monday, June 24 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The board will conduct a design review and consider approval of use permits for an In-N-Out Burger, Safeway gas station and Chase bank branch – all part of the Alameda Landing development – on 2.3 acres adjacent to the Webster Tube. A separate review of buildings for the development’s shopping center has been postponed until July 8.

Board of Education

The Board of Education will begin its public meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 25 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The board will consider adopting a budget for 2013-2014 and also, pay increases for the district’s non-teaching employees and performance pay for Superintendent Kirsten Vital. The board will also discuss whether to revise the district’s master plan and plan objectives that have been achieved so far. In an earlier closed session, the board will discuss labor negotiations and the superintendent’s contract.

Golf Commission

The Golf Commission will hold a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 25 in the ladies’ lounge at the Chuck Corica Golf Complex, 1 Clubhouse Memorial Road.

On the agenda: The commission will receive a status report on golf complex renovations.

Transportation Commission

The Transportation Commission meets at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 25 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The commission will consider approval of new parklet guidelines; review and recommend a draft study that examines ways to improve transit access on and off the Island; and will review and provide comments on rehabilitation projects for the Webster and Posey tubes.

City of Alameda Successor Agency Oversight Board

The City of Alameda Successor Agency Oversight Board is holding a special meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 25 in Conference Room 360 on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The board will receive an update on the Alameda Theatre and parking garage property and will determine the date of its September meeting.
