CITY COUNCIL

The City Council holds its regular meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 20 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The council will consider appointing Bruce Edwards to the city’s Pension Board and will approve resolutions commending outgoing Fire Chief Mike D’Orazi and division chiefs Daren Olson and Matthew Tunney for their service to the city. The council will also receive presentations on the status of cleanup efforts at Alameda Point and a development concept for a 68-acre waterfront site at the Point. The council will also receive a report from a rental housing community discussion group and consider giving directions on proposals. The council will also hold a public hearing to identify social service needs that could be paid for using federal block grant money. The council will also consider accepting quarterly sales tax and treasure reports for the quarter ending on September 30, 2014 and on the city’s refinancing of existing redevelopment bonds. The council will also consider whether to accept an agreement with Vavrinek, Trine, Day and Co. for auditing services. The council will also consider seven separate council referrals from members. The council will also designate a voting delegate and an alternate for the League of California Cities.

CITY COUNCIL

The City Council will hold a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 21 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The council will discuss a list of protocols for conducting city meetings, including the way individual members may submit items for consideration, the order of business at council meetings, rules of order, the start time and length of meetings, continuation of items and the use of cell phones, e-mail and other electronic technology to conduct private communications during meetings. The council will also discuss the possibility of a future City Hall open house.

BOARD OF EDUCATION

The Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, January 22 at Island High School, 500 Pacific Avenue.

On the agenda: The board will receive presentations from potential candidates for an open seat and will select finalists to be interviewed at a February 3 board meeting.
