PLANNING BOARD

The Planning Board meets at 7 p.m. Monday, June 9 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The board will consider approval of and recommendations to the City Council regarding a draft housing element – a housing “blueprint” for the city – for the years 2015-2023, and of a draft waterfront town center plan for Alameda Point.

BOARD OF EDUCATION

The Board of Education meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 10 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The board will consider approval of a revised spending plan for a possible school bond that may be placed on the November 4, 2014 ballot, and will also discuss a draft language for a ballot statement to place before voters. The board will also conduct a public hearing on a proposed budget for 2014-15 and discuss a spending plan for temporary Proposition 30 tax funding and a local control and accountability plan that describes how state funding will be tied to student achievement. The board will also receive a report on a survey conducted by the District English Language Advisory Committee and an update on professional learning for school leaders. The board will also consider board member requests for the full board to consider discussing the removal of cell towers from the roof of Maya Lin School, reviewing information about all of the cell towers on district schools and discussing the merits of the district’s solar master plan and also, releasing the plan to the public.

RECREATION AND PARK COMMISSION

The Recreation and Park Commission meets at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 12 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The commission will make a recommendation about whether to restore or replace the Clark Memorial Bench in Jackson Park. The commission will also receive an update on the status of Jean Sweeney Open Space Park.
