PLANNING BOARD

The Planning Board meets at 7 p.m. Monday, September 22 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The board will hold a public hearing to consider the master plan, density bonus application, design review, development agreement and transportation demand management program for a proposal to develop up to 414 homes and 25,000 square feet of commercial space in and around the Del Monte warehouse at 1501 Buena Vista Avenue. The board is also scheduled to discuss a housing cost and rents task force, which the City Council rejected last week in favor of a community-based process. The board will also conduct officer elections.

BOARD OF EDUCATION

The Board of Education meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 23 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The board will consider approval of a resolution directing district staff to notify cell service providers of the district’s intent to cancel cell tower contracts at Will C. Wood Middle School and Maya Lin School. The board will also conduct a public hearing to discuss a proposal to from The Academy of Alameda to create a new K-5 charter school. The board will also conduct a public hearing to accept comments on a proposal to light fields adjacent to Wood Middle School. The board will also install student board members. The board will also receive reports on enrollment, summer school, program improvement status for the district and its schools and the state-mandated accountability plan that accompanies state schools funding.

PUBLIC ART COMMISSION

The Public Art Commission meets at 6 p.m. Wednesday, September 24 in Conference Room 360 on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The commission will consider a proposal to install a sculpture consisting of vertical, fin-shaped steel mesh pieces designed in the appearance of catamaran sails at the Alameda Landing Gateway, 533 Wilver “Willie” Stargell Avenue.

TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION

The Transportation Commission meets at 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 24 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The commission will review a draft transportation demand management plan for proposed development on the Del Monte warehouse site and consider approval of a proposed Cross Alameda Trail design concept. The commission will also review a proposed citywide pedestrian safety program and a quarterly report on activities related to transportation policies and plans.
