The Agenda: Operations center money, school facilities plan and more

Public Utilities Board

The Public Utilities Board meets at 7 p.m. Monday, September 16 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The board will consider approval of a document stating that a planned electrical conduit for Coast Guard Island will have minimal environmental impacts; revise an energy metering agreement for certain customers who generate their own power; and discuss a memo from board leadership about board effectiveness and governance.

Board of Education

The Board of Education is holding a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 17 in the Alameda High School cafeteria, 2201 Encinal Avenue (entrance on Central Avenue at Walnut Street).

On the agenda: The board will have a facilitated discussion with Quattrochi Kwok Architects about the components of a facilities master plan, the timeline for the plan and the potential for placing a general obligation bond on the ballot in 2014.

City Council

The City Council meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 17 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue. The regular meeting is preceded by a special meeting, scheduled for 6:59 p.m., and followed by a second special meeting after the regular meeting concludes.

On the agenda: The council will consider appointments to a list of boards and commissions; amend an agreement with one of its consultants for Alameda Point; consider a $1.15 million loan to the Alameda Unified School District to upgrade Encinal Swim Center; receive a presentation on a draft infrastructure plan for Alameda Point and financing mechanisms to fund the plan; consider refinancing bonds used to pay for new and upgraded libraries at a lower cost; and consider refinancing bonds used to upgrade City Hall in order to generate funds for a new Emergency Operations Center. The council will also consider whether to ask city staff to draft a resolution that supports comprehensive immigration reform.
