The Agenda: Park Street plans, parcel tax purchases and backyard animals

Here’s what’s on the civic calendar this week.

Planning Board

The Planning Board’s next regular meeting is at 7 p.m. Monday, April 22 in council chambers at City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The Planning Board will consider a list of proposed uses for new commercial buildings under construction on the old Cavanaugh Motors site on Park Street; more on that here. They will also consider some changes to another development project on Park Street intended to accommodate a Walgreens to set up shop there.

Board of Education

The Board of Education’s next regular meeting is at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 23 in council chambers at City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The board will get an update on how the school district is spending $12 million in Measure A parcel tax funds and will consider how Measure A funds should be spent in 2013-2014. The board will also receive overview presentations on the district’s four charter schools and its agreement with the city regarding operation of the district’s swimming pools. Also on the agenda are contract openers with two employee unions for additional raises to non-teaching staff, and an agreement with teachers that would lower maximum class sizes for split-grade classes. The board will also consider changes to a pair of board policies and will receive a report on training for schools administrators.

Community meeting on backyard farm animals

The city is hosting a community meeting to discuss proposed updates to the city’s rules on backyard farm animals at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 25 at the Main Library, 1550 Oak Street. More on that here.
