The Agenda: School board considers new elementary charter

PENSION BOARD

The Pension Board meets at 4:30 p.m. Monday, October 27 in Conference Room 391 on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The board will consider acceptance of pension payments and financial reports for the quarter ending on September 30, 2014.

CIVIL SERVICE BOARD

The Civil Service Board meets at 5 p.m. Monday, October 27 in Room 140 at City Hall West, 950 West Mall Parkway, Alameda Point.

On the agenda: The board will consider changes to civil service rules regarding physical abilities qualifications and certification of eligibility lists. The board will also consider correspondence from the Electric Utility Professionals of Alameda regarding bumping rights in case of layoff, city organizational charts for 2013-14 and 2014-15 and an activity report for June 1 through August 31.

COMMISSION ON DISABILITY ISSUES

The Commission on Disability Issues meets at 6:30 p.m. Monday, October 27 in Conference Room 360 at City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The commission will discuss an Alameda Fire Education Program. The commission will also discuss goals, objectives and events for 2014; receive universal design and community outreach updates; and receive reports about recent Planning Board and City Council meetings.

PLANNING BOARD

The Planning Board will hold a regular meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, October 27 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The board is scheduled to consider revised landscaping and signage plans for a smog station to be added to an existing car repair shop at 1928 High Street. The board is also scheduled to conduct a design review of a planned fire station at 1625 Buena Vista Avenue and to conduct a public hearing to consider approval of a transportation demand management plan for redevelopment of the Del Monte warehouse, along with changes to plans for adjacent streets.

BOARD OF EDUCATION

The Board of Education meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 28 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The board will consider approving a recommendation to permit The Academy of Alameda to start a K-5 program. The board will also consider approving an initial study of the potential environmental impacts of a plan to light baseball fields adjacent to Will C. Wood Middle School and also, a finding that the project would not have significant environmental impacts. The board will also receive presentations on Girls Inc. of the Island City; the BaySci instructional program; evaluation of the staff evaluation process and support programs; and proposed reorganization of district scholarship programs for graduating seniors.
