COMMISSION ON DISABILITY ISSUES

The Commission on Disability Issues meets at 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 23 in Conference Room 360 on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The commission will discuss the 25th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act and October Disability Awareness.

PLANNING BOARD

The Planning Board meets at 7 p.m. Monday, March 23 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The board will conduct a public hearing to consider design review and a use permit for the Water Emergency Transportation Authority’s proposed construction of an operations and maintenance facility at 670 West Hornet Avenue on Alameda Point. The board will also conduct a public workshop on the development plan for Site A at Alameda Point, which is proposed to hold 800 new homes, parks and up to 600,000 square feet of commercial space.

BOARD OF EDUCATION

The Board of Education meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 24 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The board will consider renewing Alameda Community Learning Center’s charter and also, consolidation of Encinal High School and the Junior Jets middle school program. The board will also consider a bond program schedule for the Measure I school facilities bond and approval of a program pool for architectural services. The board will also consider acceptance of “sunshine” contract proposals for the two unions representing the district’s non-teaching employees. The board will also receive information on middle school science programs, Common Core standards professional development and a proposed 10-year deferred maintenance plan. The board will also conduct a Season for Non-Violence reading.

TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION

The Transportation Commission meets at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 25 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The commission will consider approval of recommendations for parking near the Harbor Bay ferry. The commission will also consider approval of a list of transportation projects in Alameda’s 2015-17 capital improvement program. The commission will also consider approval of a complete street concept proposal for Clement Avenue and submission of a grant application. The commission will also consider approving a point-to-point car sharing policy. The commission will also approval of a paratransit program review for the 2015-16 fiscal year.

SOCIAL SERVICE HUMAN RELATIONS BOARD

The Social Service Human Relations Board meets at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 26 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The board will consider a modification to the city’s paratransit shuttle program and recommendations for spending federal Community Development Block Grant money. The board will also receive an update on participation in the Park Street Spring Festival and the Jam at Neptune Beach.
