PLANNING BOARD

The Planning Board holds its regular meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, September 23 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The Planning Board is scheduled to consider the proposed development of an assisted living and memory care facility on the site of a former Chevy’s restaurant on Mariner Square Drive and also, an ordinance permitting A-frame signs in front of businesses on Park Street. A requested zoning change allowing a business on land zoned as open space at 2350 Harbor Bay Parkway has been continued.

BOARD OF EDUCATION

The Board of Education is holding its regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 24 in the Alameda High School cafeteria, 2201 Encinal Avenue (entrance on Central Avenue).

On the agenda: The board will consider approving a trio of strategic goals for the 2013-2014 school year and extending Superintendent Kirsten Vital’s contract by one year. The board will also discuss options for legal counsel for the school district. The board will also receive reports on the school district’s theory of action, summer school, program improvement status for the district and some of its schools, and enrollment for the current year.

CITY COUNCIL

The City Council is holding a special study session at 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 24 in council chambers at City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The council will discuss a potential project labor agreement policy.

CITY COUNCIL AND PLANNING BOARD

The City Council and Planning Board are holding a special joint meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 25 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The council and board will review and comment on a draft environmental impact report for proposed development at Alameda Point, and will take public comment to be incorporated into the final report. The council and board will also consider a proposed land conveyance and subdistricts for Alameda Point.

SOCIAL SERVICE HUMAN RELATIONS BOARD

The Social Service Human Relations Board meets at 7 p.m. Thursday, September 26 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The board will appoint member Mike Robles-Wong as its representative to the Alameda Sister City Association; discuss and clarify its role in making recommendations on Community Development Block Grant public service funding; and conduct a work group session on its 2013-2014 plans.
