PLANNING BOARD

The Planning Board is holding a regular meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, May 11 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The board will consider whether to recommend City Council approval of a proposed development on Alameda Point’s Site A. The board will also consider whether to recommend the council approve capping the amount of housing that can be built on the North Housing parcel at 435 units. The board will also consider Lennar’s proposal to create public art at its Marina Shores housing development that consists of three humanoid figures dressed in Ohlone ceremonial attire and three tule balsa rafts, made of recycled and corten steel.

CITY COUNCIL

The City Council is holding a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 12 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The council will consider selection of a search firm to help find a new city manager and will also hear reports from different city departments detailing their proposed budgets for the next two fiscal years.

BOARD OF EDUCATION

The Board of Education is holding a regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 12 in Room 605 at Encinal High School, 210 Central Avenue.

On the agenda: The board will consider authorizing district staff to work out a solar energy program with Alameda Municipal Power. The board will also consider approving an alternate member for its discipline subcommittee. The board will also receive informational updates on proposed categorical program allocations for 2015-16, the district’s magnet and innovative programs, its English language learner master plan, math and English language arts initiatives and food and nutrition programs. The board will also recognize Alameda’s teacher of the year and finalists and receive a solar schools research report from Alameda High School students.

GOLF COMMISSION

The Golf Commission meeting scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 12 has been canceled.

LIBRARY BOARD

The Library Board meets at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 13 in Room 224 on the second floor of the Main Library, 1550 Oak Street.

On the agenda: The board will consider accepting an art donation from the Exploratorium, consider resolutions recognizing Michael Hartigan and Gail Wetzork, receive reports from the Alameda Free Library Foundation and Friends of the Alameda Free Library, and hear patron suggestions and Library Director Jane Chisaki’s responses.

RESTORATION ADVISORY BOARD

The Restoration Advisory Board meets at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 14 in Suite 140 at City Hall West, 950 West Mall Square, Alameda Point.

On the agenda: The board will receive reports on Site 2 vegetation and the petroleum program at Alameda Point.

RECREATION AND PARK COMMISSION

The Recreation and Park Commission meets at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 14 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The board will receive a presentation from Alameda Little League on Challenger League and receive a quartet of staff reports. The board will also review and recommend a revised skate park mural design and location.
