ZONING ADMINISTRATOR

The Zoning Administrator meets at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 5 in Conference Room 360 on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The administrator will consider granting a variance to landscaping requirements for unenclosed parking at 623 Central Avenue. The administrator will also consider approving a use permit for a car rental business at 2900 Main Street.

CITY COUNCIL

The City Council meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 5 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The council will receive an annual report on the Mastick Senior Center and consider adopting a resolution adding regular meeting dates to its 2015 meeting calendar. The council will also consider approving rate increases for garbage collection and adopting a strategic plan for use of federal block grant funds for local nonprofit aid groups. The council will consider approving changes to the way its Rent Review Advisory Committee operates and provide direction on whether to study the impact of rising rents in Alameda. The council will also consider confirming business improvement area reports for the Park Street and Webster Street business districts and levying annual assessments in those districts. The council also consider a recommendation to select two members to serve on a joint committee with board members for the East Bay Regional Park District. The council will also consider a proposal to establish a procedure for selecting council members for liaison committee appointments and Mayor Trish Spencer’s nominations for seats on the city’s golf and public art commissions.

The City Council will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 6 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The council will hear presentations on city departments’ budget proposals for the next two fiscal years.

HISTORICAL ADVISORY BOARD

The Historical Advisory Board meets at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 7 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The board will hold a public hearing to consider amending the preservation guide for the Alameda Naval Air Station to include exterior paint guidelines for existing buildings in the station’s historic district. The board will also hold a public workshop on the proposed development plan for Alameda Point’s Site A.
