PLANNING BOARD

The Planning Board is having a regular meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, March 9 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The board will consider an appeal of its decision to permit Walgreens at 1600 Park Street to sell beer, wine and spirits for off-site consumption. The board will also conduct annual reviews of the Alameda Landing development agreement and transportation demand management program. The board will also conduct a study session for design review, a development plan and other future approvals for a proposal to build 58 townhomes at 2100 Clement Street.

BOARD OF EDUCATION

The Board of Education is holding its regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 10 in Room 605 at Encinal High School, 210 Central Avenue.

On the agenda: The board will consider approval of board policy revisions, the district’s second interim financial report and a resolution to consider cutting certain services for the 2014-15 school year. The board will also conduct a series of public hearings on new contract proposals from two unions representing office staff, custodians and other non-teaching staff. The board will also receive a staff recommendation regarding renewal of the Alameda Community Learning Center’s charter and reports on school safety, Measure I bond program schedule options and a second interim presentation on the Measure A parcel tax. The board will also hear a Season for Non-Violence daily reading.

CITY COUNCIL

The City Council is holding a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 10 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The council will hold a housing and transportation workshop that includes a presentation on housing and density bonus policies and programs; council members will provide direction regarding possible changes to the city’s density bonus ordinance, which allows developers who agree to build extra affordable housing to apply for waivers to certain city zoning rules.

LIBRARY BOARD

The Library Board holds its regular meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 11 in Conference Room 224 on the second floor of the Main Library, 1550 Oak Street.

On the agenda: The board will discuss a library art donation policy and receive reports on the Alameda Free Library Foundation, Friends of the Alameda Free Library and patron comments and the library director’s response.

GOLF COMMISSION

The Golf Commission will hold its regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, march 11 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The commission will receive Greenway Golf’s annual report for 2014 and a report on the operator’s grass driving range plan. The commission will also discuss its roles and responsibilities.

RESTORATION ADVISORY BOARD

The Restoration Advisory Board meets at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 12 in Room 140 at City Hall West, 950 West Mall Parkway.

On the agenda: The board will discuss the coordination of Alameda Point redevelopment and toxic cleanup efforts and future use of Site 32.

RECREATION AND PARK COMMISSION

The Recreation and Park Commission meets at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 12 in council chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue.

On the agenda: The commission will consider a recommendation to approve the preliminary design for the first section of a planned Cross Alameda Trail that will sit on Ralph Appezzato Memorial Parkway between Main and Webster streets. The commission will also consider approving a Measure B paratransit application seeking $521,000 for the 2015-16 fiscal year. The commission will also review the Clement Avenue Complete Street Concept Proposal. The commission will also consider approval of a mural design and location for the Alameda Skate Park.
