Fourth of July: The street closure edition

Michele Ellson

The Fourth of July parade route.

Alameda's famous Fourth of July parade kicks off at 10 a.m. Thursday, and with the parade come a host of street closures. Road closures and detours will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. - and as early as 6 a.m. near the parade staging area and festival area - and police are urging people who have vehicles on the parade route to move them by 5 a.m. Thursday or they'll be towed.

Stay tuned for our parade coverage on Friday. In the meantime, the route map is above. And if you're taking AC Transit on Thursday, they'll be taking some detours as a result of the parade; their detour map is here.
