Get your political buzz on with The Alamedan!

Election night is fast approaching and we don’t want you to spend it watching the returns alone. So we’re hosting a grand old party, and you’re invited.

We'll be hosting our first-ever Election Party at the Blue Danube this Election Night, where you can dish about the day’s races with other Alamedans who share your interest in local issues along with some of the reporters who cover local politics (and maybe a candidate or two). You can test your electoral IQ by offering your predictions for the day’s winners and by taking part in our political trivia quiz, while enjoying coffee, wine and treats as the election results scroll on the big screen. The fun gets underway at 6 p.m. Tuesday, November 6 at the Blue Danube, which is at 1333 Park Street. If you'd like to join us, you can RSVP on our Election Party Facebook page at

And if you like the news and information you’re getting from The Alamedan, we've got one more opportunity to help you get your political buzz – and to support The Alamedan’s coverage. The folks at Angela's Bistro and Bar are hosting a Friday Night Flights fundraiser for us on Friday, November 2, and that starts at 5:30 p.m. For just $10 you get two glasses of wine from Santa Carolina – and the inside line on local politics. Angela’s is at the corner of Central and Oak, just down the block from the Alameda Theatre, and the event takes place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

On a separate note, Silk Road is hosting a Rock the Vote voter registration drive, and we'll be there. The drive will take place from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, October 20. In addition to having what you need to be registered to vote on Election Day, they'll have information and complimentary coffee and snacks; we'll be there with our popular candidate cheat sheets, which offer you a side-by-side comparison of all the candidates' positions. Silk Road is at 1412 Park Street; you can get more information on the event by clicking here.
