Dear Editor,

Thanks to our generous donors, the holidays will be a little brighter for eleven Alameda public school teachers and their students who were recipients of November and December’s Alameda Education Foundation Adopt A Classroom (AAC) presentations. The AAC program provides classroom teachers with $500 grants donated by community members to be used to enrich classroom learning experiences for their students. I would like to thank these donors:

The Casper-Irons and Roemer-Buckner families; Linda Schowalter on behalf of Noel and Lily Hecht; the Seiberling family and Wells Fargo Foundation; Wellguard Insurance Solutions Inc.; McConville, Murray-Phillips, Valle, Aced-Molina and Brune families; Alameda Kiwanis Foundation; Jensen and Cochran families and friends in Memory of Helen Cochran; Karin and Neal Fox; The Keenan and Alessio family and Perforce Foundation; Perforce Foundation on behalf of employee Michael Alessio; Perforce Foundation on behalf of employee Enrique Del Campo.

Teachers were adopted at Alameda High, Earhart, Edison, Franklin, Lincoln, Lum, Paden and Ruby Bridges. Since September, we have adopted 115 teachers, which equals $55,500 that has gone directly into the hands of classroom teachers. Our goal for the 2013-2014 school year is 150 adoptions and we are well on our way there! More information about the program may be found at
