Alameda Point Environmental Report blogger Richard Bangert was so impressed by "the beehive of construction activity" at Alameda Landing development that he snapped these photos. A Target store opened in October of 2013, and new Safeway and Michael's craft stores are set to open for business in November, said Sean Whiskeman, Catellus's senior vice president for development.
Additional stores and restaurants coming to the Landing and its environs include an In-N-Out Burger, Corner Bakery Cafe, and a Sleep Train mattress store; those stores are expected to be open by January 2015. Ultimately, the development, which is being constructed on land by the Posey Tube that once held a Navy supply center, will also feature 276 homes; the first piece of the housing development could be open by this time next year, Community Development Director Debbie Potter said.
Here are Bangert's snapshots in time, which detail the redevelopment of the former Navy site.
