Police are saying no one was injured and no charges have been filed following a Saturday night crash into the Starbucks at the corner of Park Street and Central Avenue.

Alameda Police Sgt. Ryan Derespini said the driver of a BMW sport utility vehicle whose car hit another parked car and slammed into the coffee shop at around 10:45 p.m. Saturday was trying to park when they hit the gas pedal instead of the brake.

"He was not under the influence, he just hit the wrong pedal," Derespini said Sunday morning.

The accident shattered a window and damaged the building that houses the Starbucks; Derespini said the store will be closed pending further inspection by the city's building department.
