An early morning fire on the 1000 block of College Avenue injured two people and caused $180,000 worth of damage, firefighters said.

Firefighters said the cause of the fire was accidental.

Firefighters arrived at the single-story home at 6:40 a.m. to find fire in the front room of the home. They extinguished the blaze in 22 minutes. One of the two residents who escaped the blaze before firefighters arrived was transported to Alameda Hospital for treatment of what firefighters said was a non-life threatening injury. Twenty firefighters responded to the blaze, and one was injured.

The two people displaced by the fire were assisted by the Red Cross.
