As Alamedans, we love our holidays – and we’re not afraid to show it. Alameda is home to one of the largest Fourth of July parades in the country, while the Island’s Gold Coast neighborhood routinely hosts thousands of trick or treaters every Halloween.

For Christmas, Alameda pulls out all the stops. We’ve got Christmas Tree Lane, which has been lighting up the nights for three-quarters of a century. We’ve got Alameda Ballet Academy’s Nutcracker, a cherished annual tradition. We’ve got a sing-it-yourself Messiah at Immanuel Lutheran Church. And Tap Dancing Christmas Trees.

In honor of Alameda’s holiday spirit, we’ve put together a trio of short videos – a holiday sampler, if you will – to showcase it. You can celebrate the season by checking out these holiday light displays, a locally crafted Messiah and a number from those tap dancing trees.
